Chris Kauffmann

JAXPORT Chief Operating Officer (COO)


Chris Kauffmann is the Chief Operating Officer of the Jacksonville Port Authority

  • 2002: joined JAXPORT as the Director of Seaport Security
  • 2003: responsibilities were expanded and he was named Senior Director, Terminal Operations and Seaport Security, responsible for all cargo operations and security requirements at the Talleyrand, Blount Island and Dames Point Marine Terminals
  • 2009: promoted to JAXPORT’s Chief Operating Officer, leading JAXPORT’s cargo and cruise operations, security, and engineering


Before joining JAXPORT:

  • Returned to Jacksonville in July 2002 after serving for a year as the Fleet Marine Officer with the U. S. Naval Forces, U.S. Central Command and 5th Fleet stationed in Manama, Bahrain
  • During the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, directed the Force Protection and Anti-Terrorism efforts for United States and Coalition Naval forces totaling over 50,000 personnel, 100 ships, 200 aircraft as well as major seaports and airfields within the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility



  • Received a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University in 1975
  • While in the Marine Corps, received a Masters in Business Administration from National University in 1982, and a Masters in Resourcing National Military Strategy from the National Defense University in 1997
